San Francisco Vacation

San Francisco Vacation San Francisco Vacation

With all of the drama taking place in the world today, it has changed my opinions of wanting to see the world. Since September 11th, I have decided that I would like to see as much of my own country as possible. I live on the East Coast, so seeing the West Coast is definitely something I want to accomplish. I've always wanted to see California and have heard some wonderful things about the San Francisco area. With that in mind, I began to plan my San Francisco vacation. In planning my San Francisco vacation, I decided to figure out exactly what sites I needed to put on my must-see list. I have always wanted to see Alcatraz, so that my first priority on my San Francisco vacation list. I couldn't wait to see the Golden Gate bridge in person and ride up and down the streets on a trolley. I spent several weeks gathering my ideas and some information about hotels and prices of activities. Once I determined what I could and couldn't afford, I booked our flights and my husband and I were off!

My husband is not a big fan of flying but definitely wanted to see the West Coast. To his credit, he did wonderful on the flight there, but did make a few too many nervous trips to the bathroom. The entire flight, I had my travel guide in front of me and went over all of the things that I wanted to do on my first San Francisco vacation. My husband is not much of a planner. He's more into getting to a destination and seeing where we end up. I like to have things organized and spelled out. Once we landed, we hailed a taxi to our very nice hotel that was by Fisherman's Wharf. I could smell the salt in the air and see the seals lying on the docks. I was in heaven. San Francisco was everything that I thought that it would be. The streets were narrow and steep, just like the movies portray them. I tried not to notice the same-sex couples holding hands, but my husband certainly did. I told him to deal with it and enjoy himself.

The very next morning, our San Francisco vacation plan went into effect. I wanted to be at Alcatraz first thing in the morning. The day started off a bit overcast and chilly, but it didn't deter me. I was the first in line to get on that tour boat. I must have taken a ton of photos once we were out in the bay. I was thrilled that I could see the Golden Gate Bridge. I wanted to have lots of memories of our San Francisco vacation. Alcatraz was amazing - I would recommend everyone planning a San Francisco vacation to put that on their list of things to do. In fact, even if you're not planning a San Francisco vacation, put it on your list of things to see someday. You won't regret it.
